Dear Parents/Carers,

A big, welcome back! We hope that everyone had a lovely summer break. We welcome our new children to our Foundation Stage, as they start their learning journeys at Paisley Primary School. We also think of our Year 6 children, who left us at the end of last year, and hope that they quickly settle into life at their respective secondary schools. Many children had very good reports last year and made good progress and attainment. We are looking to build on that progress this year. We are due an Ofsted inspection this autumn term and we are hoping that the inspection team will recognise all the very good practice at our school and that we at least maintain the good grading awarded to us three years ago. In terms of our SATs results and results for other year groups, we are pleased to have met all our targets for all year groups and improved on 2014 outcomes.

You will see from the Diary Dates at the end of this newsletter that we have two parent consultation evenings this term. This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and to find out how your child is settling into the new class and year group. We hope to see as many of you as possible. We regularly get around 85% attendance and we are keen to maintain or improve on this figure this year. As we are always striving to improve and listen to your feedback, we will be conducting our annual questionnaire and we would be very grateful if you could complete this at the parents consultation evenings.

This academic year sees a few teaching staff changes. Mrs. Woyen will be leading Year 5/6 and Mr. Gillings is leading Year 3/4. Mrs. Rodgers joins the Year 5/6 team and Miss Gilyard returns to our school, re-joining Key Stage 1 as Year 2 teacher. Mrs. Driffill also joins us in Year 1. Mrs. Walton is teaching in Sunshine with Mrs. Stabler. We currently have two teachers on maternity leave: Mrs. Allgood and Mrs. Bursell. Mrs. Allgood will be returning at some point this academic year and Mrs. Bursell in the autumn term, 2016.

As well as our parents consultation evenings, there are many other events taking place over the course of this term. We hope you can attend these and we look forward to welcoming you and your extended family into school. I thank you, as always, for your continued support and I extend my very best wishes to you all.
