Attendance at Paisley Primary School

Our school has high expectations for attendance. We expect pupils to attend school on time, everyday. Attendance is a high priority for our school. We will work with you, our families, to ensure that your child achieves excellent attendance. In order to make excellent progress across all subject and curriculum areas, your children need to be in school all day, every day!

Each week, the house team with the highest attendance achieves house points in our Gold Book celebration assembly.

Every child in school with 100% attendance for the week earns house points.

All children, including those with attendance support plans, achieve house points for making improvements.

Platinum house points are awarded for sustained and significant improvement in attendance.

Support with Attendance

If we identify concerns with your child’s attendance, Mr Danson or Mrs Mould will contact you to discuss any concerns. For some children this will involve an attendance support plan where we support you and your child to make swift improvements.

Walking Bus

The Paisley Walking Bus runs everyday from 8.15am through to 8.45am following our agreed route. All children are welcome! If you would like your child to join the walking bus to make sure that they’re in school and on time every day, please speak to Mrs Mould at the office.

Absences

We have a system for checking absences each day. If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, please contact the school before 9.15a.m. on 01482 355984 to authorise their absence. If you do not contact us, we will telephone you to confirm the reason for your child’s absence and where possible the specific nature of the illness must be given. If we are unable to contact you, we will arrange a home visit.

Please ensure routine appointments and check-ups take place during school holidays or after school hours.

In accordance with policy, no term-time holidays will be authorised, unless there are exceptional circumstances. These are defined in the Trust Attendance Policy available on the school website or in hard copy form from the school office. Repeated incidences of lateness and/or absence may result in support from our EWO, (Educational Welfare Officer).

Illness

There are a number of staff trained in first aid and paediatric first aid. Mrs. Maundrill is the principal first aider. If your child becomes unwell or injures themselves at school, we will make them as comfortable as possible until we are able to contact you. It is extremely important that we have your current address and telephone numbers. We will also need an alternative emergency contact for when you are unavailable. It is vital that you remember to tell us if any of these details change so that we can always reach you as quickly as possible.
