BBC CHILDREN IN NEED 2011
We all had a fabulous Children In Need Day. As many of you may be aware, Pudsey Bear and Look North visited us at school and the staff and children in the hall were on the Look North news at 1:30pm and 6:30pm. Miss Speck, Mrs. Sharp and Mrs. Hird went along to the Hull Truck Theatre Children in Need evening. You may have spotted Miss Speck on the front row! Two of our pupils: Molly and Robert, accompanied by Mrs. Sharp, went on to the stage at 9:20pm and presented our school cheque live on television. Congratulations to them both for doing Paisley proud! (They also spoke to Radio Humberside after coming off stage). We raised an absolutely amazing, £1,062.62! This, of course was a result of all the fundraising, which took place over the course of the week. One of the main fundraising events of the week was the cake stall, which raised over £200! I have already thanked the staff for their bakery contributions and I would like to thank all the parents for taking the time to bake for us and to visit the cake stall.
ENTERPRISE EVENT – 15.11.11
Thank you for supporting our Enterprise event, which was a big success. Enterprise is an integral part of our curriculum and the children certainly developed their enterprise skills in the lead up to the event. All the produce sold out! This was our first enterprise event. We have decided to hold next term’s event at the end of the school day and to produce more goods to sell. The event made a clear profit of £200+. This money will be fed back into the school’s enterprise fund. Mrs. Stabler, along with the School Council, will be deciding on an investment project for the school, so the children can reap the benefits of their hard work.
SHOE BOX APPEAL – 2011
Once again, a big, ‘Thank You’, to you all, on behalf of Mrs. Stabler, who has organised the Shoe Box Appeal. Mrs. Stabler has been inundated with generous donations of shoe boxes for less-fortunate children. The boxes are beautifully-wrapped and full of special gifts. Every box also came accompanied with money to cover postage costs. We are very touched by your generosity. The Hull Daily Mail visited us and took a photo of Chloe and Roberto sitting amongst the boxes!
AND FINALLY…
A big, ‘Thank You’, to all the staff at Paisley for their recent contributions in terms of their time, baking contributions and for digging deep into their pockets to support recent events. Although I am commenting here on financial support, I would also like to acknowledge the support being shown by our parents, supporting their children in their education; listening to them read regularly and ensuring that homework is completed. It is also lovely to see so many of you coming along to the start of day learning sessions in the Foundation Stage and to the KS1 reading club.
