A big welcome back to school to everyone at the start of this Autumn Term. The children move through the school so quickly and we are thinking of the Year 6 children who have left us, as they start their secondary school. We are also excited for those little ones entering the Foundation Stage at the start of their learning journey. We wish all the pupils well.
The end of the Summer term saw lots of exciting events happening for our children, based on various areas of the curriculum: sports dats, the Year 6 leaving assembly, the Foundation Stage graduation ceremony, the KS1 Ugly Bug Ball and KS1 and Year 3/4 craft afternoons for parents to name but a few! And, just to confirm … Mrs Lison and Mrs Sharp were seen on the bouncy castle at the Foundation Stage Pirate Party with a mystery pirate!
The school also achieved all its learning targets set by the local authority and I thank staff for their hard work supporting all the children with their learning. We now start the next academic year with earnest and look forward to similar successes and quality learning experiences.
The school had a brief, Section 8 Ofsted Inspection on 8th July. The outcome was that the school is making good progress since the previous inspection of January 2010. We were also classed as having good capacity to further improve. If you would like to read the report, which was published on 28th July, log on to www.ofsted.gov.uk and you will find Paisley Primary School under the inspection reports section.
Our school website has been upgraded recently. However, it is ‘work-in-progress’, and still needs lots of information and updates uploading. Hopefully it will be fully populated in the near future and future newsletters will be uploaded there for you to read.
I am delighted to be Acting Headteacher this Autumn Term. I thank all the senior leadership team and all staff for their support. Indeed, I thank you, as parents, for your support and encouraging words during the Summer term. Having worked at the school as Deputy Headteacher for four years, I do know many parents well. I hope to get to know more of you better over the course of this Autumn Term. If you wish to meet myself or a member of the senior leadership team on a more formal basis please contact the school office to arrange an appointment at a mutually-convenient time.
I hope your child(ren) enjoy the start of term and their new academic year.
Mrs A Hird,
Acting Headteacher
