The Olympics are only 5 weeks away and we have been making the most of the learning opportunities this offers the children. We have been taking part in a variety of Olympic-themed sports taster sessions and competitions, learning new skills and enjoying races, team sports and field events.
The children have also really enjoyed the Olympic torch relay passing so close to our school. Year 3/4 children made a torch of their own, while in year 5/6 children have learned about the history of the torch and the meaning behind the symbol.
In Key Stage One, Jessica’s dad really went the extra mile! He has made a full-size replica of the torch. Jessica has carried it with pride, and it has been super for the children to see such a realistic model close up. Here is Jessica holding her torch:
What a wonderful way to celebrate the Olympic spirit coming to Hull!
